  • Non-veteran who wishes to help with Team Blackhorse, or veteran who wishes to assist but not compete.
  • Veteran who wishes to be trained to compete or otherwise support Team Blackhorse in Combined Driving.

Training day for horses, veterans and volunteers who wish to participate in Team Blackhorse.  

Projects: Competitive carriage driving CDE training, grooming, harness and carriage maintenance, blueberry and raspberry gardens, wood splitting, mower and tractor maintenance.


Team Blackhorse is our 2013 initiative to expand on the Blackhorse Method and is designed to encourage veterans to participate in peer to peer activities.  The objective is to recruit veterans of all branches and any service, combat and non-combat, disabled or able bodied, it does not matter.  Those who are struggling need the encouragement of those who are not, in the comfort of a veteran support group.


Veterans will be given training in the following area's

Grooming      - Basic horse handling, cleaning of hooves, brushing, and general care of the animal. 

Navigating     – Identify harness parts, properly harness a horse, carriage care, putting to, navigating skills, and negotiating hazards.

Driver           – Responsible for the horse and team.  Drive at the CAA level 1 standards. 


Instructors – Responsible for the supervision of veterans within the program, and ensure all required standards and safety measures are in compliance.
